Something Old

Copyright HKJ

This drawing has been lurking in a cobwebbed, skeleton-ridden folder hidden in the darkest depths of my computer memory, until today. I vaguely remember doing this drawing in the months after being taken on by Joanna Quinn in 2007. I was (then and still am) awed by her hand drawn and rendered animation and tried the experience for myself. After completing  aline drawing on paper, the cel is placed above and rendered with coloured pencils and smudge sticks. It's hard, time consuming and labour intensive and I only did one rudimentary image. It's exhausting to think of the many thousands that go into each of Jo's films. Wow.
