Tucked away on the upper stretches of the hip and happening Cuba Street is Eyeball Kicks, one of the coolest little shops/galleries on this side of the planet. It is run by a friendly couple with a love of amazing, eye-popping, jaw-dropping art and their adorable Boston Terrier, Cole. On my last visit, where I spent most of the time chatting to the owner and tickling the doggy, I offered an apology for the greasy finger prints and drool smeared across the shop windows each morning before they open the doors (it's on my to work, woo). Though, if they insist on changing the prints in the window so often, I can't be held responsible for my demented behaviour......James Jean, Miae Kang, Nanami Cowdroy,...... aaaaaaahhhhhhhhhhhhh. Inspiring.
I've been reminiscing lately about working at Beryl Productions Studio. Even though I only left them in February for the move to NZ, I really miss the team, the white animation desk I claimed as my own and drawing bears and toilet roll. Here are just a few of the most enjoyable Charmin ads I worked on. The joys :D.........

This drawing has been lurking in a cobwebbed, skeleton-ridden folder hidden in the darkest depths of my computer memory, until today. I vaguely remember doing this drawing in the months after being taken on by Joanna Quinn in 2007. I was (then and still am) awed by her hand drawn and rendered animation and tried the experience for myself. After completing aline drawing on paper, the cel is placed above and rendered with coloured pencils and smudge sticks. It's hard, time consuming and labour intensive and I only did one rudimentary image. It's exhausting to think of the many thousands that go into each of Jo's films. Wow.
Blogging takes time. I have wrongly under estimated the time and effort involved in actually starting up a blog. So far it's taken me a full week to get this far which, sadly is not that far at all. I also didn't realise just how awkward it feels writing about the less than important things buzzing through my brain and posting personal work (which up until now, has been seen by no more than 10 close relatives and friends).
It's all a bit new and intimidating especially with a dysfunctional scanner....aarrrgggghhhh!!!!
